I was a frustrated, rushed home buyer. We had to find a house in 30 days to vacate a rental house, and the rental market in DFW in the summer of 2011 was much more challenging than it was about that time last year when we had moved in. After abandoning the rental market to look to purchase instead, we found a realtor through a referral. After searching MLS for a week, I was overwhelmed with the number of houses that I'd have to wade through and schedule showings for. When I asked that realtor about new homes, his response was, "I can help you with that, but I'm not familiar with any of the available communities or builders. You can just search for them online. Just remember to put my name on the paperwork when you go to the sales office" -- not exactly what I wanted to hear given my current level of frustration. About this time I had heard through a friend that his realtor offered him a 2.5% cash rebate after closing on his new house. After shaking away the disbelief, I searched online for realtors in the area that offered a cash rebate. Some of the hits I received looked questionable, and none of them looked anything as close to the professional polish that ARG's site contained. Mike, your MLS Map search rocks. With one click, a slide, and 2 zooms I zero in immediately on the areas I'm interested in. The hover over the target - and popup info is fantastic. That follows the paradigm of drill down till you get to the data you want. Too many websites deliver way too much info on the first click, open new pages, or worse open a new page in place - that you have to reload the previous page when going back. Yours has got to be the most easy to use, elegant DFW MLS Map interface ever.

After a prayer, we hit the internet. What we got was a great website that was direct, to the point and came up on the right internet search words. And to my surprise, even at 8pm at night, Mike answered his phone. The call seemed like a long shot really but we thought we might have just found the solution we had been looking for. Mike Askins is a great agent who always has his clients interests first. His commission free move up program is awesome for people looking to upgrade to a new house but are holding back due to realtor commission involved for selling their existing house.
